Patient guide: rules of stay at the Oncology Center
Dear patient, you have been admitted for treatment to one of Ukraine's leading healthcare facilities. The purpose of your stay is to restore your health, but please remember that the best result for your recovery can only be achieved through joint efforts — yours and those of the medical staff.
That is why the administration of Sumy Regional Clinical Oncology Center asks you to follow the Rules of Stay at the Oncology Center, namely:
General provisions
- When you are admitted to the inpatient unit, you should have with you your passport, insurance policy (if you have one), discharge summaries from any previous treatment, toiletries, indoor shoes, a change of clean bed linen, and a robe (pajamas).
- Personal belongings, valuables, documents and money should be handed over to your relatives. The administration of the Oncology Center is not responsible for their safekeeping.
- Tell your family and relatives about the Visiting Procedure and the Rules of Conduct in the departments and on the grounds of the facility.
- Familiarize yourself with the department's internal schedule. We recommend writing down the surname, first name and patronymic of your attending doctor, with whom you and your relatives will be communicating.
- Please follow generally accepted standards of communication with medical staff and other patients.
- If you break the Rules of Stay at the inpatient unit, you may be discharged from the department with a corresponding note on your sick leave certificate.
Types of violations of the Rules of Stay at the Oncology Center
- Not following the doctor's recommendations, taking medicines at your own discretion.
- Drinking alcohol, using drugs, smoking.
- Leaving the grounds of the Oncology Center without the medical staff's knowledge.
- Rude or disrespectful behavior toward the medical staff of the Oncology Center.
- Not following the department's internal rules.
Recommendations of the Oncology Center administration for patients
- Do not smoke on the grounds of the Oncology Center.
- Do not use immersion water heaters, electric heating pads, plug adapters or extension cords in the ward.
- Do not install personal electrical appliances (for example, a TV set) without the permission of the department management.
- Do not share personal data or confidential information with outsiders.
- Do not invite casual acquaintances to the inpatient unit of the Oncology Center.
- Do not keep extra clothing, large sums of money, valuables or jewelry in the ward.
Rules for visiting patients at the Oncology Center
- Visiting patients is permitted in all departments of the Oncology Center.
- Visitors may not enter the inpatient unit wearing outerwear.
- Visiting hours are daily from 11:00 to 13:00 and from 17:00 to 19:00.
- Visitors are admitted to seriously ill patients with the permission of the head of department or the doctor on duty.
- Visitors must keep the grounds of the Oncology Center clean and must not disturb patients, in accordance with the Internal Rules of the department and of the facility as a whole.
- Sitting on the bed of the patient you are visiting or of other patients in the wards is strictly prohibited.
- Entry to the Oncology Center during “quiet hours” from 14:00 to 16:00 and after 19:00 is prohibited.
- Intoxicated visitors are not allowed to see patients.
- Visitors must follow generally accepted standards of communication with patients and medical staff.
- Visitors are prohibited from arguing or quarreling with the medical staff of the Oncology Center.
- Visitors with complaints or concerns are asked to contact the doctor on duty, the head of department or the administration of the Oncology Center.
