The spread of the coronavirus can be considered a pandemic, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has stated.
In his statement, he noted that with the coronavirus infection spreading in many countries around the world, the threat of a pandemic has become real.
However, this would be the first pandemic in human history that could be controlled, the WHO representative noted.
In addition, Australian researchers offer a grim forecast: even under the most optimistic scenario, about 15 million people worldwide will die from the coronavirus, and losses to global GDP will reach about $2.4 trillion.
