Prostate cancer prevention

Prostate cancer is a serious threat to many men. According to the Sumy Regional Clinical Oncology Center, 1,590 patients had prostate cancer in 2023. To reduce the risk of the disease, follow these recommendations:

  1. Balanced diet: Replace red meat with plant protein and fish, and cut down on sugar and dairy products.
  2. Physical activity: Regular exercise reduces the risk of prostate cancer.
  3. Calcium control: Avoid high doses of calcium, especially from animal sources, and pay attention to plant sources of this element.
  4. Giving up harmful habits: Quit smoking and limit alcohol.
  5. Regular medical checkups: Men aged 45 and older (or 40 if there have been cases of prostate cancer in the family) are advised to see a doctor for a preventive examination.
