November is prostate cancer awareness month. In November, urologists talk first and foremost about cancer problems in men, the most important and common of which is prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers. It accounts for more than 14% of all malignant tumors diagnosed in men. The disease develops slowly and may go on for years without specific symptoms. Most often the tumor is detected only at stage 2 or later, when it is already pressing on the urethra and its size can be assessed during a urological examination. Early diagnosis makes it possible to develop an effective treatment plan and prevent dangerous consequences – metastases to bone tissue and internal organs.
Causes of prostate cancer
Science has not yet been able to establish the true causes of prostate cancer with 100% certainty. The main risk factors are considered to be age, hereditary predisposition, dietary factors (lack of vitamin A and β-carotene) and smoking. More than 70% of newly diagnosed prostate cancer cases occur in men over 65.
Symptoms of prostate cancer

The first signs of prostate cancer are similar to the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (adenoma), urinary tract infection and inflammation of the prostate. They should not be underestimated – listen to your body.
