Keeping up a good tradition, for the second year in a row the staff of the Sumy Regional Clinical Oncology Center have become St. Nicholas's helpers, taking an active part in greeting the children of the pediatric hematology-oncology department of the regional children's hospital, so that the holiday brings as many bright and joyful emotions as possible and makes treatment and prevention even more effective. Every child believes in miracles, and it is this belief that often gives the push toward recovery. The task of adults is to spark or support this belief in children's hearts.
On 17 December, on the eve of the holiday, representatives of our staff gave the young patients currently undergoing treatment sweets, toys, arts and crafts kits, special baby food and more.
Each of us can brighten the gray, pain-filled days of children with cancer with joy and faith in miracles, because mercy, compassion and a sincere desire to help those in need can make us, our country and perhaps even the world better.
