🔹 Surgical oncology department No. 2 of the Sumy Regional Clinical Oncology Center is a specialized unit that provides comprehensive surgical care to cancer patients with tumors at various sites.
The department has been operating since 1978 and is located on the 4th floor of the main building. It has 50 beds. Every year, about 1,300 patients are treated here and more than 900 surgical procedures are performed.
👨⚕️ 👩⚕️ The team includes 5 surgical oncologists of the first and highest qualification categories and 12 nurses. Since 2018, the department has been headed by Dmytro Borsuk, surgical oncologist, highest qualification category.
Main areas of work:
▪ Treatment of malignant and benign neoplasms of the:
- breast
- soft tissues
- skin
- lymphatic tissue
- abdominal organs
▪ Mammoplasty procedures (including reconstruction using implants or a thoracodorsal flap)
▪ Laparoscopic and open surgery of the gastrointestinal tract:
- distal subtotal gastric resection
- gastrectomy, gastroenterostomy
- right/left hemicolectomy
- anterior resection, abdominoperineal resection of the rectum
- sphincter-preserving procedures using circular staplers
▪ Intra-arterial chemotherapy for metastatic or locally advanced colorectal cancer
▪ Percutaneous core needle biopsy of tumors of the breast, liver, soft tissues and retroperitoneal space
✅ Examinations and treatment follow local clinical protocols aligned with the standards of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
✅ Every clinical case is reviewed by a multidisciplinary tumor board.
✅ Examinations can be done on an outpatient basis or in the inpatient unit.
✅ In complex diagnostic cases, patients are referred to leading centers in Ukraine, including the National Cancer Institute of Ukraine (Kyiv).
