Activities of the Oncology Center’s pathology department

• Histological examination of surgical and biopsy material.
• Intraoperative frozen section examination to assess “clear margins”

when removing tumors, to obtain data on the presence or absence of metastatic involvement of the lymph nodes and, in difficult diagnostic cases, to determine whether a tumor is benign or malignant.

• Immunohistochemistry to determine the molecular subtype of breast cancer and in other cases.
• Consultative review of slides for patients who come to the Oncology Center from other healthcare facilities.

The department uses modern high-tech equipment.
