Senior nurse, first qualification category

Senior nurse of the sealed radioactive sources unit, highest qualification category
Radiation care for cancer patients in the region has been provided since 1953, when a set of radioactive cobalt sources for contact radiation therapy (brachytherapy) was received for the first time.
Since then, the team has gone through a natural change of generations, and for the future, the history of the radiation therapy service’s development is a very important chapter.
Today, radiation therapy department No. 1 is a structural unit of the Oncology Center. The department is located in a separate radiation therapy building. It has 40 beds, 4 of which are “active” beds.
The department provides intracavitary radiation therapy with sealed sources of ionizing radiation based on the radionuclide Co-60, in automatic and manual modes, both as a standalone treatment and as part of combined treatment with other methods.
Since 2004, the department has been headed by Oleksandr Ikonopystsev.
The department is staffed by specialists trained in radiation therapy who have extensive experience in all methods of contact radiation therapy.
The department’s radiation oncologists, T. D. Morhun and L. B. Prokopenko, hold the highest qualification category.
Senior nurse: O. P. Finashyna; senior nurse of the sealed radioactive sources unit: D. U. Shuliakova. Of the 12 junior specialists with medical training, 9 hold the highest qualification category.
The department introduces new radiation treatment techniques for cancer patients, which improves the quality of treatment and significantly shortens hospital stays.
